Outbound podcast

An outbound podcast is a B2B show created primarily as a prospecting vehicle: its guest pipeline is a target-account list, and its episodes are the record of first meetings with buyers. It is the opposite of an audience-first show, which books guests to attract listeners.

Why it matters

Naming the category matters because the two kinds of show look identical from the outside (same artwork, same episode feed) while running on opposite engines. Buyers evaluating podcast agencies routinely price an audience machine when what they need is a meetings machine, and vice versa.

The number

An outbound podcast is judged on conversion, and the conversion data now exists: 18% invite-to-booking, tracked through to opportunities (ThePod.fm, 2026).
